S-J Farms is owned by Scott and Jonell Walker and is located in the extreme Northwest corner of Ohio.
In
March 2008, we decided to raise goats. We purchased a kinder doeling
(Maybell) and a Nubian doe in June 2008. We loved our kinder doeling's personality and compact size, so we
decided to start a Kinder herd of our own. We purchased another Nubian doe and 2 pygmy bucks in 2009. Our first attempt was unsuccessful, but the following breeding season (2010) we had our first kinder triplets born on the farm.
We were soon disappointed to discover though, that there wasn't really a market for kinders in our area. So in the late fall of 2011, we decided to sell out of the kinders and focus on our nubians. In August of 2011 we participated in our first Linear Appraisal thru American Dairy Goat Association. We received very valuable information from the appraisal session and plan to continue to have our herd appraised each year. We are also planning to start doing milk tests on our does. We feel that the does that we have selected are very good milkers, but it would be great to have the paperwork to prove it!

All adult goats tested CAE Negative on 3/26/2011 and 3/18/2011 thru BioTracking.
